Torfan was a temporary outdoor installation at Bernhöftstorfa in central Reykjavík.

The project was part of a City of Reykjavík programme that invited artists and designers to test temporary uses for spaces awaiting further development.

Part I
We introduced colourful wooden stools and a pond with a floating sculpture to catch the attention of people passing through the square.

Part II
Repeated vandalism shaped the first weeks of the project, leading to a continuing cycle of repairs.
Part III
In response, we chose to destroy the decorations ourselves. This final act turned the damage into part of the work and gave us a way to determine its ending.
